Change Agent Productions and the Youth Institute Film in Africa! - Change Agent Productions recently went out to The Gambia on the West coast of Africa to start production of a two part short film on Environmental Concerns for the YMCA of the USA's International Group. We brought one of our trusty high school interns, Kevin Peraza, and were hosted by the innovative Gambia YMCA. Throughout the course of two weeks we filmed scenes at the UNESCO World Heritage site of James Island, the Abuko Nature Reserve, the National Environmental Agency, the National Council of Arts and Culture, various sites around Banjul and the surrounding conurbation of Serekunda, as well as trained local youth on digital moviemaking. We look forward to hosting our Gambia colleagues later this summer when we will shoot the second part of this film. Click here to see photos of this adventure!

Last week we went to the central valley to start a digital media program at Avenal High School. It was intense. We took a group of four youth to train the L.I.F.E. After School Program staff how to get the most out their new MacBooks, make movies, produce music, and put them all together to make magic. The staff easily grasped the concept of moviemaking and quickly started throwing out ideas for future projects at the school. The folks at Avenal High School definitely have the talent and drive to take this program to the next level.
